It depends on two things: hair type and feel of hair after shampooing. Coconut oil is extremely heavy when applied to fine hair yet pairs perfectly with resistant, frizzy hair. I suggest towel drying your hair after a coconut oil treatment and giving it a good ole’ feel test. If there’s an uncomfortable greasy residue, shampoo lightly again. If suitable, follow up with a conditioner. The “no-poo movement” craves what conditioning only and oiling does to hairstyles. A temporary success for many until buildup occurs, in such cases clarify with shampoo. If you are really unsure, test a section of hair first and see how it responds to touch.
After using coconut oil for my hair, I know to wash it out with shampoo, but do I still use a conditioner after shampooing?
